DAY 20: Waterville - Waterville (Ring of Kerry part 3.1)

Leaving Clifford's Bed & Breakfast, Waterville, Kerry.

Taking a sight detour to look for a stone alignment and I stumbled across these curious trees.
The area between the two trunks looks like a portal tomb.  At the least, very mysterious.

Slight detour to see the Dromond pair standing stones that overlook Loch Currane.

You can barely see the loch over the rise and at the base of the mountains.
The bump on the rise on the right side of the photo is one of the stones.  The other stone is further down the other side of the hill leading to the loch.

Driving through Eightercua, Kerry.

No better place to have a pottery studio than Eightercua.

Looking along the N70.

Looking south-west along an unnamed creek on the N70, Basilcon, Kerry.

Looking north-east into the mountains.

The N79 at Basilcon.

Well, this is the tourist route...

A 'little birdy' told me to make a detour down the unnamed road to the right.

The view looks promising.
Panorama of Ardkeragh, Kerry.

Panorama looking back towards Basilcon.

This little church at Ardkeragh probably has the best view in the world.

More picturesque ruins...

...and the view from the picturesque ruins.

Something odd up here on the left.

Probably not a portal tomb.

On the N70 at Toor, Kerry.

It looks like a painting!

Lots of ruins of old houses down there.

Toor, Kerry.

Something mysterious on the side of the road at Toor.

I could see something strange from the road so I ventured down a side road to take a look.

The standing stones surprised the heck out of me.  They're not on any map and could be modern.

This well preserved ring for isn't on the megalithic.co.uk map either.

Get me, I'm an archeologist!

But it's clearly known if there's a path leading up to it.

The ring fort is just visible from the road passing below.

What type of bird is that to the right of the electricity pole?

My dad would love this.  "Straight ahead at T."

Rinneen, Kerry.

Looking across at Bolus, Kildreelig, and Reen.

On the road to Reenearagh.

Making my way to the end of the peninsula.

I live in the wrong country... this looks like home.

Still making my way to the very end of the peninsular.

The road cuts through the rocks...

...to the south side of the outcrop.

Breathtaking.

It's scenes like this that are the reason why...

...it's taking me longer to get around the country.

What the heck is that on the left?

I don't want to mention fairy house but tiny little building and will you just look at that from door? Twee!

Still making my way to the end of the road.

And here it is!

Time to head back.
